Charlie Puth goes shirtless for a jog in Santa Barbara… after responding to Taylor Swift name-dropping him on her song The Tortured Poets Department

Charlie Puth worked up quite a sweat jogging around his Santa Barbara neighborhood on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old pop star – who also owns properties in Beverly Hills and Studio City – had removed his white shirt and tucked it into his grey shorts over white bicycle shorts.

Charlie – who gets 41.7M monthly listeners on Spotify – finished off his sporty attire with Nike sneakers.

Last month, Puth responded to Taylor Swift giving him a shout out on her song The Tortured Poets Department: ‘You smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate/ We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist/ I scratch your head, you fall asleep.’

The four-time Grammy nominee publicly thanked the 34-year-old powerful pop star for subtlety letting him ‘know musically that I just couldn’t keep [my new song Hero] on my hard drive any longer.’

‘My new song Hero is about when you see someone you love hurting themselves, ruining the things in their life that are good, but you just can’t save them,’ Charlie – who boasts 75.2M social media followers – explained on May 21.

‘It’s one of the hardest songs I’ve ever had to write, but I wrote it in hopes that you’ve gone through something similar in your life, and that it can fill in the BLANK for you like it did for me. I’m very excited to share my next album with you, especially this song because it’s a great representation of what’s to come. I’ve never put out a song like this before – it’s very different for me.’

Hero, which dropped May 25, is the lead single off Puth’s upcoming fourth studio album.

The Lose My Breath singer hasn’t performed since he covered Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s 1974 hit Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me in honor of their Library of Congress Gershwin Prize ceremony in Washington, DC on March 20 – which later aired April 8 on PBS.

Charlie was proud to ‘honor the two people that made me want to write music’ and Elton John replied on Instagram: ‘Thank you so much Charlie. You sang beautifully!’

On the personal front, Puth announced September 7th that he was engaged to his on/off girlfriend – Thee Closet Next Door co-founder Brooke Sansone – whom he originally met as a child in his New Jersey hometown of Rumson.

The Berklee College of Music grad previously romanced singer Charlotte Lawrence, Grammy nominee Selena Gomez, Bella Thorne, Halston Sage, Pritika Swarup, and Madison Reed.

Charlie first found fame at age 17 in 2009 as a viral performer on YouTube before getting a big boost from Ellen DeGeneres, who signed him to her eleveneleven record label in 2011.
