GMB turns 10: Susanna Reid marvels at her transformed image and ‘teenage-looking’ Ben Shephard in throwback as show marks a decade on air… and Piers Morgan even makes a comeback!

Good Morning Britain marked 10 years on air on Monday.

The show first hit screens in 2014 and a decade on from the first episode, Susanna Reid spoke to co-host Richard Madeley about early life on the show.

A flashback clip showed the anchorwoman sitting alongside Ben Shephard, Sean Fletcher and Charlotte Hawkins while Laura Tobin stood next to their desk, while a later montage showed former stars – including controversial star Piers Morgan

She announced the show debut in the throwback, before the camera panned back to current day where Richard asked Susanna if she remembered the first day – to which she confessed she vividly recalled the first episode.

After branding Ben, who is now the frontman of This Morning, ‘teenage looking’, she then revealed she framed a newspaper clipping slamming the show.

Speaking to Richard after the clip aired, Susanna said: ‘And how we’ve all changed! Good Morning Britain celebrates it’s 10th anniversary… Happy anniversary to all of our viewers and get in touch if you remember that moment 10 years ago…

‘Yes of course I remember it! Laura [Tobin] was there and I launched alongside a different man – a teenage looking Ben Shephard’.

Susanna then revealed she had framed a newspaper headline from the time alleging that the show would only last till Christmas.

When the show began, Susanna, Ben and Charlotte all presented four days a week, with Sean presenting every day. When Susanna was absent, Charlotte took her place and was in turn, substituted by Kate Garraway or Ranvir Singh.

The show has seen a slew of hosts throughout its stint on-screens and a video montage saw beloved hosts including Kate and Adil Ray in clips – while more controversial figures were also on-screen.

Piers returned in a clip following his dramatic departure three years ago in the face of controversy over his opinions about Meghan Markle.

In 2021, after Meghan’s claims that she was left suicidal by the attention of the British press Piers claimed he ‘didn’t believe a word’ from her statements.

He was then targeted by weather presenter Alex Beresford, who called him out for ‘continuing to trash’ the Meghan – leading to Piers storming off set before his permanent exit was announced shortly after.

Piers sparked further controversy earlier in his stint as a presenter, having caused accusations of racism and sparking over 1,500 Ofcom complaints in January 2020.

He made comments relating to a Chinese dairy advert, in which he said: ‘He’s using ching chang chong milk’ and also spoke over the advert saying, ‘ching chang cho jo’.

He was accused by some viewers as using racist language which is used to antagonise Chinese people, and for mocking the Chinese language
