Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 25 (ANI): People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti’s roadshow was diverted after an electric pole on Super Bazar Road, near Bharat Mata Chowk, caught fire during her roadshow in the Jammu East Assembly Constituency.
The fire was later extinguished, with no injuries reported.
Meanwhile, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti held a roadshow in Jammu city on Wednesday to support PDP candidate Aditya Gupta, who is contesting in the Jammu East Assembly Constituency. BJP has fielded Yudhvir Sethi, and Congress has fielded Yogesh Sawhney in this constituency, where polling will take place in the third phase of the elections, scheduled for October 1.
Launching a scathing attack on the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mufti said, “Here in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor is from BJP, the Prime Minister is from BJP. What have they done for Jammu? As far as BJP is concerned, they won’t even cross 15 seats.””BJP is creating many Bindrawalas in Kashmir. Azadi slogans are being raised, and the BJP is doing nothing because they want to ally with these independents to form the government in JK,” she added.
“No secular government can be formed in Jammu without Jammu’s support. We will only offer support on the condition that the Darbar move is reinstated, smart meters are abolished, and the education system is improved.”Criticising Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, she said, “Bulldozer Baba is coming, and they wanted to build the Ram Mandir to gain votes in elections, but now water is seeping from the temple. People have bulldozed the aspirations of Bulldozer Baba by not voting for him.””Today, polling is taking place in Kashmir. They brought people from the European Union to showcase that everything is fine here,” Mufti added.
Voting for the second phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir began on Wednesday morning. Over 25 lakh eligible voters will decide the fate of 239 candidates across 26 constituencies in six districts of the Union Territory.
Among the prominent candidates are former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah, contesting from both Budgam and Ganderbal seats, Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina from Nowshera, and Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hamid Karra from Central-Shalteng.
The last phase of polling will be held on October 1, with the counting of votes scheduled for October 8. (ANI)
