This is the British waitress at the centre of a love triangle that ended in the horrific murder of a seven-month pregnant woman.

Allegra Cerea, 24, was named in court as the lover of Alessandro Impagnatiello, 31, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend Giulia Tramontano, 29, just two months before she was due to give birth to their son.

The trial in the Italian city of Milan has shocked the country with its brutality; Giulia was stabbed a terrifying 37 times and an attempt was made to burn her body after she discovered her boyfriend was also dating Miss Cerea.

Allegra, a former Leeds University student from Norwich, graduated in June 2022 with a degree in Italian and French, moved to Italy a short while later.

After working as a teacher and in a tattoo parlour as a receptionist she eventually landed a job at the upmarket Armani Hotel in Milan, where she told the court she had met Impagnatiello.

Allegra described how initially he had told her about Giulia but added that they had split up and were no longer a couple – before she learned the truth and approached Giulia to warn her of the affair in May last year.

In a shocking new disclosure, Allegra revealed that only months before, she discovered she was pregnant, also expecting Impagnatiello’s child.

Speaking initially from behind a screen Allegra described how she had terminated the pregnancy and had to pause for a few minutes before carrying on her testimony.

Outlining their relationship she said: ‘He told me he was going on holiday on his own to Ibiza but then I found the pictures of him with Giulia and she was clearly pregnant, when I asked him about it he said he wasn’t the father.’

Allegra told how the love-rat barman spun a web of lives during their relationship – claiming he had left Giulia and falsifying a DNA test to trick her into thinking he was not the father of his victim’s child.

Giulia was found dead in the boot of his car in a Milan suburb last May – three days after she was murdered – and after he had texted Allegra to say he was a ‘free man’.

The court in Milan has heard this week how Impagnetiello stabbed Giulia 37 times while she lay in the bath before throwing her in his car and trying to burn the body.

In her testimony, Allegra told the court she had met up with Giulia just hours before she was murdered so she could ‘discuss the situation and help her’.

She said: ‘Not knowing how to handle the situation, I wanted to help Giulia, make her understand, give her something concrete and make her understand what was happening.’

From the beginning, she claimed, Impagnetiello had insisted that he was not the father of the child and that he had done the DNA test.

Allegra deemed these his ‘deceptions’.

‘I asked him to show it to me to confirm if he was telling the truth. When I saw the test, I believed it.

‘He had said that she (Giulia) was alone and was not well, that she had tried to harm herself and therefore he was worried.’

But she then described her shock at finding out the DNA test was false after finding searches for how to ‘make one’ on an iPad Impagnatiello had given to her to use while on holiday.

Allegra said: ‘When I went on a trip in May, he lent me his tablet and there I found the DNA test file. I looked at his search history and found the images to create the document.

‘I also saw in the emails the Excel file to create the document. Having already lied the first time, I didn’t want him to create another story to cover himself. I waited to see how to act.’

Allegra added: ‘He told me Giulia was bipolar, that she wasn’t well, that she wanted to hurt herself, he told me that she was pregnant and he wasn’t the father, that he had a DNA test.’

She told the court how eventually she set up a meeting with Giulia after discovering Impagnatiello was lying to her.

Allegra said: ‘When I called Giulia she thanked me, I explained to her who I was and that I was in the same situation as her, she thanked me and told me that she wanted to see me.

‘She told me that we had to meet that same day and he discovered that I had spoken to her and he was p****d off.

‘I had decided to tell Giulia what I wanted her to know, that I had had enough of his lies, I decided that she needed to know, he continued to deny everything despite the evidence I had.’

‘I confronted him and told him that I knew everything and I wanted to end the relationship, and he told me he wanted to tell me about his situation and he continued to deny it, to say that he was not the father of the child, even though I had discovered that the DNA test was false.

‘He said that he was no longer with Giulia, he said, “If you don’t believe that he is not my son, call Giulia.” He threatened me like that.

‘But I had already decided to call her and I called her. When he realized that Giulia was coming to the hotel to talk, he left work early.’

CCTV played to the court showed the two women having a heartfelt embrace but hours later Giulia was dead after he rounded on her in the bathroom of their flat stabbing her furiously.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline after giving her evidence, Allegra said: ‘I have given my evidence to the authorities, testified and given the information I needed to give.

‘It is a very sensitive case and topic, I’ve said what I had to and I think the family need to be given time to grieve.

‘I have done my bit, I met with Giulia to try and help her. He was a narcissist, manipulator and liar, that’s all I want to say about him. This has been a very difficult thing for me, it’s not been easy. My life has changed a lot.’

Earlier this week Impagnatiello confessed to the court: ‘I killed Giulia Tramontano but I don’t know why. The number of stab wounds will always haunt me.

‘The person I was in that period is not the person I am today. This trial is helping me organise my scattered thoughts and confusing pieces.

‘Now I can reveal the real truth. I had created a web of lies in which I drowned.’

He went on to explain how after killing his girlfriend he watched a football match on his phone before stuffing her body in the boot of his car, driving to meet his mother for lunch.

He said: ‘I was having lunch at my mother’s with the body in the car.’

The court also heard how he had tried to burn her body in the bathroom before hiding the remains in a garage and then in a cellar – a day later he reported her missing to the police.

To cover his tracks he burnt Giulia’s personal effects including her ID card and passport and sent text messages to her ‘begging’ her to come back.

But eventually he broke down and confessed to the murder, taking police to various scenes of the crime and he was arrested.

The trial continues next month.
