Sri Lanka takes legal action against 981 establishments with mosquito breeding sites

COLOMBO, June 3 (Xinhua) — Sri Lankan health officials are to take legal actions against 981 establishments where mosquito breeding sites were detected during the National Mosquito Control Week held from May 26 to June 1, the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry said on Monday.

Issuing statistics to the media, the unit said from 26 May to June 1, its staff inspected 93,874 premises.

The unit said legal action will be taken against the owners of 981 establishments and warnings had been issued for 3,121 premises.

The Epidemiology Unit said around 25,000 people with dengue have been reported from the island as of June 3.
